Corrections, questions, and suggestions are all welcome. We read everything, and factual corrections get priority.
Reporting an error
This is the message we most want to receive. Music theory has more genuine disagreement in it than beginners are usually told, and we would rather be corrected than be wrong quietly.
When reporting an error, it helps enormously if you include:
- The page it is on, ideally the URL.
- What the page says and what you believe it should say.
- A source, if you have one. A textbook reference is ideal.
Substantive corrections are noted on the page rather than made silently. See our editorial policy for how that works.
Suggesting a topic
If there is something you tried to learn and could not find explained clearly anywhere, tell us. That is genuinely how a good proportion of these pages came to exist. We cannot promise to cover everything, and we are unlikely to write about instruments none of us plays, but the list is shaped by what people ask for.
Reporting a problem with a tool
If one of the interactive tools misbehaves, please include your browser and version, your device, and what you were doing when it happened. Audio problems in particular tend to be browser-specific, so that detail is not a formality.
What we cannot help with
- Individual tuition. We are not able to give personal lessons or assess your playing.
- Instrument valuations and identification. A local shop or a specialist dealer is the right place.
- Homework and exam answers. We will happily point you at the page that explains a concept.
- Guest posts and link requests. We do not publish guest posts, sponsored content, or paid links, and we do not respond to these. See the editorial policy.
Commercial enquiries
We do not accept sponsored posts or paid placements of any kind, and no product can buy a mention or a position in a list. Affiliate programme enquiries from merchants are read but rarely acted on; our approach is set out in the affiliate disclosure.
Privacy
Anything you send us is used only to reply to you and, where relevant, to fix the site. It is not added to a mailing list, because there is no mailing list. See the privacy policy.
Some links in this article are affiliate links to Musical U, Pianote, ArtistWorks, Yousician, or Amazon Associates. If you subscribe or buy after clicking, we may earn a small commission at no additional cost to you. Affiliate revenue helps us keep the interactive tools and the essays free. It does not change what we recommend. Full policy at /affiliate-disclosure/.
